The full acrylic denture is made of plastic material. It is designed to replace the entire dentition in an edentulous jaw in order to restore the patient’s ability to chew and speak. Traditional acrylic full dentures are made purely from the various acrylic resin types available. It is removable and patients can take them out for cleaning before going to bed each day. If acrylic dentures are deformed, broken, or uncomfortable, they may need to be replaced.
Full acrylic dentures are made in a dental lab, and each acrylic denture is made from an impression of the patient’s mouth. Despite its many advantages, there are various contraindications associated with it. For example, allergic reactions, and heavy absorption of the jaw bone cause the alveolar area to flatten and prevent effective retention of permanent dentures and the gag reflex.
